Treatment threshold
The mite level at which a beekeeper intervenes rather than continues monitoring.
Beekeeping
Definition
Varroa management depends on counting rather than guessing — typically by alcohol wash or sugar roll on a sample of bees. Thresholds vary by region and season and are lower going into autumn, because mites damaging autumn brood produce the weak winter bees that kill a colony in February.
