Botany

Definition

The composite family's structure: what looks like one flower is a head of dozens or hundreds of florets. Knapweed, dandelion, catsear, thistle and sunflower are all capitula. They are highly accessible and are the exclusive pollen source for several specialist bees, including the shaggy bees.
