Nosema
A microsporidian gut parasite of adult bees, visible only under a microscope.

Definition
Nosema apis and Nosema ceranae damage the gut lining, shorten adult life and reduce foraging. Infection frequently produces no visible signs, which is what makes it difficult. It is generally a secondary stressor rather than a primary killer, and management is through comb replacement, ventilation and good nutrition rather than treatment.
