Fruit development without fertilisation, and therefore without pollination.

Definition

Commercial common figs and some banana and citrus varieties set fruit without pollination and without seed. It is why the common fig on a supermarket shelf involves no fig wasp, and why some crops that appear to depend on pollinators in fact do not.
