A young bee's first flights, learning what the hive entrance looks like and where it sits.

Definition
Bees hover in widening arcs facing the entrance, memorising it and the surrounding landmarks. This is why moving a hive a short distance strands returning foragers at the old position: they navigate to a remembered place rather than following the hive. The beekeeper's rule is less than a metre or more than three kilometres.
