Definition
Mining bees, plasterer bees, most sweat bees, digger bees and many others dig burrows in bare or sparsely vegetated soil, frequently in aggregations. They need firm, sunny, undisturbed ground, which paving, dense turf, mulch and landscape fabric all remove. The small mounds they leave in lawns are harmless and temporary.
